I’m a freelance writer and editor based in Los Angeles. For five years, I wrote the Prototype column for The New York Times, and my work has appeared in Bloomberg Businessweek, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Los Angeles magazine, The Daily Beast, Outside, Smithsonian and Wired. I’m a former editor of Men’s Journal and Outside magazines, and I teach in the journalism program at UCLA Extension.
